Xela

Brad and I decided to go to Xela, Guatemala's second largest city because some of our friends from Colombia recommended it for Spanish school. But as you know from earlier posts, we thought Spanish school was boring. We made the best of our week there. It wasn't great, Xela is polluted, our beds were uncomfortable, it was wet, and the altitude was hard to adjust to. But our family was so nice and Grandma cooked us three delicious meals a day.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner we had delicious tortillas.

Guatemala City

We got to Guatemala City late on the 21st and for the first time in my life someone was waiting for me at the airport with a sign. So exciting. It was the owner of Hostal Hermano Pedro, where we ended up staying three times. It isn't the nicest place in the world, but very friendly.
We never saw a whole lot of Guatmela City, we left early the next day for Xela.

BASEA

Brad and I call our trips BASEA, Brad and Sarah's Excellent Adventure. This was BASEA 3.5... (the other half was Colombia, so long ago I hardly remember it. Good thing I blogged about it.)

HOME!

We're home! I'm working on the blog now, but it might be a while. So many pictures!

hungry, tired and dirty

It´s a good thing we´re coming home in 3 days because I´m out of clean underwear and ready to sleep for a week. We spent a combined total of 16 hours on buses in the last two days.
But we´re still enjoying our vacation. Our third memory card is almost full, so I´ll have lots to post as soon as I get to a faster internet connection.
Can´t wait to see everyone!

We´re alive. Having fun in Guatemala. We're in Antigua now and the bus is coming in a few minutes to take us to the lava. We're going to try to make smores.
