postponed posts

I just looked at this and thought, "No posts since Carnaval? That ain't right." But I realized that recently I've only been doing this blogging thing in my head.

Here's what I've thought about blogging about since Carnaval:
1. soccer or "Junior tu papa"
Barranquilla played Cartagena last Sunday so Brad and I joined two other teachers and headed south to the stadium. This was our first time at a Junior game. It was everything I expected a Colombian soccer game to be: loud and passionate. We had nice seats in the shade and really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't until later that we learned we were in a death trap. The picture in the paper the next day showed a man brandishing a two by four, the crowd looking over their shoulders as they fled. But really, that happened in a completely different part of the stadium. So, I think we're safe to go back.

2. Spring Break!
My mother is made up of 100% pure motherly wisdom. She is a glowing gold ball of good advice. So when she said, "Why put your money in the stock market right now and watch it disappear? Why not take a trip you'll always remember instead?" I listened. And....we're going to Argentina!! I'm so excited. I can't contain myself.

3. BABIES!!!
As you can see from my punctuation, my excitement is growing exponentially.
TWO babies are coming my way. Laura and Angela are both in the final days, so every time the phone rings I go running, arms flailing to the telephone, skidding to a stop to anxiously ask, "Hello? Is this about a baby?" Sadly, so far, the answer has always been, "Huh?"
But even more sad is the fact that I will be at the beach all weekend, all the way until Monday afternoon in a place without phones. Which doesn't really sound sad at all until you think that I will be missing the greatest phone call of my life, so far. But I have a feeling I will instinctively know when Abby comes into this world, like something will just snap to attention inside of me as I'm lying in the sand, reading a paperback. I will sit up. And I will be an AUNT.
