San Lorenzo

Two weeks ago we headed east and up to San Lorenzo in the Sierra Nevadas. When we first started out I was convinced it was going to be a disastous trip, we sat at the head of the bridge leading out of town for over an hour waiting for a bus and once we finally got on the bus the stupid driver made us sit for another whole hour without moving because he was looking for some paperwork. Things got so ridiculous that the passengers rebeled, stomping and shaking and shouting for a few minutes until a big angry lady in the back led us on a group walkout where we all marched off the bus shaking our fists.

Eventually we made it to Santa Marta and then to Minca, a small town a little ways up the mountain where we stayed the night.

We stayed with some British teachers in Minca. They live in the coolest houses, all natural and open to the mountains around them. I think, though that they would be pretty hard to clean.

The next morning we piled into two trucks that took us three hours up the mountain. It was a pretty rough trip, we were crammed in and bouncing around everywhere, but halfway up we stopped at a small house where the owners sold homemade rasperry wine, which made things considerably more pleasant.

We also had some tiny bananas to eat along the way

After a long and bumpy climb we made it to our cabin where we found a fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen, bunkbeds and nice, cold fresh air. We spent the weekend hiking, reading and playing cards. It was a really nice time.

Yeah, he's being stroked by Adam, the biggest creep in the world. He's such a sicko.
